Club Rules
Following is a list of rules we follow at Tusco. Most of these rules are just common sense and normal safe gun handling rules. Some are special rules for individual ranges to protect range equipment and to make sure each range is used properly. The general safety rules and the special range rules are also posted in the sign-up shed at the main gate and on each range. If you have any questions about these rules please call an officer or trustee or ask the club resident that lives in the trailer between the club house and the main range. Please shoot safe and enjoy your time spent at Tusco. Updated 6/24/03.

TUSCO DAILY RULES
1. All persons will sign in at the main gate. List your name, area to be visited, time in, and the name of any guest you bring. Be sure to add your time out when you leave. When you are attending a scheduled event or meeting you do not have to sign in.
2. No drinking of any alcoholic beverages or use of illegal drugs will be tolerated on any range. Persons doing so will be subject to expulsion from the club.
3. No shooting before 8:00 A.M. or after dusk. When the security light comes on at the club house it's time to quit shooting for the day.
4. The club is near residential property, please respect their rights.
5. Members may use any of the clubs ranges except:
A. When a range is being mowed or worked on during a work day.
B. When there is a scheduled match on a range that range is closed to practice.
C. All ranges are closed during deer gun season. See news letter for dates.
6. A member may bring a guest(s) one time only and sign him in at the main gate. After one (1) visit your guest must join the club. Guests are not allowed to hunt. Anyone may attend our scheduled events and no sign in is needed.
7. Do not drive on grass or on any range after a rain or when the ground is soft, especially in the spring and fall. Stay on the roads and in designated parking areas whenever the ground is soft or muddy.
8. All terrain vehicles are not permitted on club property.
9. It is the responsibility of every club member to keep the club grounds clean. When you use a club range leave it cleaner than you found it. Remove your targets and pick up your brass and any trash. Trash cans are provided on every range.
10. Shoot only at proper targets. Many of the ranges have rails, markers, stands, barrels, frames, etc. on them for a variety of uses. Do not shoot at them, they are not targets. If you are not sure what something is for just leave it alone. The Main Range and Practice Range have back stops (walls) to hold your targets. Please do not hang your targets on the main supports. When the main supports are shot away it is very hard and expensive to replace the backstops.
11. All persons must obey basic N.R.A. safety rules and all special safety rules posted at each range. In part they are as follows.
ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION DOWN RANGE
ALWAYS KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO SHOOT
ALWAYS KEEP THE GUN UNLOADED UNTIL READY TO SHOOT
ALWAYS BE SURE EVERYONE KNOWS YOU ARE GOING DOWN RANGE & ALL GUNS ARE UN-LOADED WITH ACTIONS OPEN BEFORE LEAVING THE FIRING LINE
ALWAYS SHOOT STRAIGHT DOWN RANGE, NEVER CROSS FIRE
ALWAYS SHOOT FROM FIRING LINE
ALWAYS WEAR EYE AND EAR PROTECTION
12. It is every club members duty to report anyone destroying club property to an officer, trustee, or the resident. Your name will be kept confidential if you wish.
13. Tusco Rifle Club dose not allow camera use (still or viedo) without the Match Director’s permission and / or individual shooter’s permission.
14. NO EXPLOSIVE, INCENDIARY OR DETONATING TARGETS ANYTIME ANYWHERE!

MAIN RANGE SPECIAL RULES
I. No pop can or bottle targets. Pop cans and plastic bottles are great targets and fun to shoot but please shoot them on the practice range. We like to keep our Main Range as nice as we can and not shoot up the grass and leave pieces of cans and plastic all over the range.
2. Don't place targets in front of rails, stands, or gravel banks. Rifles damage the rails and stands. When you place your targets in front of the gravel banks you blow big holes in them that someone has to repair. If you must shoot short range place your targets at the side of the range or high enough your bullets hit the dirt bank at I IO yards.
3 . The steel animal targets on the right side of range are for handguns only. Rifles damage these targets. Even a.223 will put a hole in these targets. You prove nothing by shooting these big targets with a rifle you only destroy club property.
4. Remove your targets and sweep up your brass. Brooms and trash cans are provided on the range. Please use them. This range is our show place and we like to keep it extra nice looking.
5. When using the 200 yd. and 300 yd. back stops (walls) place your targets away from the main support. When the main supports are destroyed it is much more difficult and expensive to repair the wall.
6. NO FULL AUTOMATIC FIRING ON THIS RANGE.
7. Tracer and incendiary ammunition permitted unless posted due to dry conditions. Check at the gate sign in.

SMALLBORE RIMFIRE RANGE SPECIAL RULES
1. Place your targets so your bullets don't hit the target frame holders ( pipes ) buried at 50 yards, 50 meters, and 100 yards.
2. Remove your targets and pick up your brass. Always leave the range cleaner than you found it.
3. This range is for .17 & .22 rimfire only, no magnum or center fire allowed. This is the place to shoot if you don’t want to hear loud guns being fired.
4. Always shoot straight down range. There are houses on the left side of this range just through the trees and another range to your right just over the mound.
5. NO FULL AUTOMATIC FIRING ON THIS RANGE.
6. Tracer and incendiary ammunition permitted unless posted due to dry conditions. Check at the gate sign in.

50 YD. PRACTICE RANGE SPECIAL RULES
I . Don't shoot at poles, signs, posts, stands, barrels, etc. There are many things on this range that have been built for a special purpose. Don't use them for targets. We realize any thing down range will be hit occasionally but when they are used for targets they are destroyed quickly and someone has to repair them at great expense to the club. Please use the target stands on the range properly. If you don't know what something is for or how to use it please just leave it alone or ask someone.
2. Please remove your targets and pick up your brass. Always leave the range cleaner than you found it.
3. Always shoot straight down range. The Trap Range is just to your right through the trees and there is another range over the mound on your left. Do not cross fire.
4. NO FULL AUTOMATIC FIRING ON THIS RANGE.
5. Tracer and incendiary ammunition permitted unless posted due to dry conditions. Check at the gate sign in.

INDOOR RANGE SPECIAL RULES
1. Caliber restrictions are as follows: Any straight wall hand gun cartridge with a bullet that weight of 250 grains or less and has a velocity of 1600 feet per second or less will be permitted. The use of full wad cutters or hollow points anre not premitted (they will rip the back stop up quicker). When shooting anything larger than a .22 LR use the blast curtain on your firing point.
2. Absolute no tracer or incendiary ammunition.
3. No black powder or black powder substitutes.
4. No BB, pellets or shot cartridges. The projectiles will bounce back.
5. Use the proper amount of ventilation. When you are done shooting, turn off all vent fans, turn off all lights and set the thermostats to 55 degrees. Make sure breaker switch #7 is turned on to lock the Club House door.
6. Always shoot straight down range. Never cross fire.
7. Use the target stands properly. When you use a target stand you must place your target so you are not hitting the supports. If you are sighting in a new gun or just a bad shot please use another range.
8. Please remove your targets and leave the range cleaner than you found it. Place all chairs and tables in the back room. There is a shop vac in the back equippment room with a HEPA filter. If there is powder dust on the floor, please sweep it up.
9. Report any range damage to the caretaker , officer or trustee immediately.
10. NO FULL AUTOMATIC FIRING ON THIS RANGE.

LONG PRACTICE RANGE SPECIAL RULES
1. Always shoot straight down range. There are houses to the right of this range you can not see.
2. Do not shoot into water.
3. Do not put your targets on the main posts that support the backstops. When you shoot away the main supports it requires a great deal of work and expense to replace them. Fasten your targets away from the main supports so they will last longer.
4. Do not shoot at glass or anything you can't pick up , you'll leave a hazard for someone else. Cans, plastic jugs, etc. are great targets and are fun to shoot and this is the range we prefer you use for plinking. Shoot at anything you bring down just so you can pick it up when your done shooting.
5 . Please remove your targets and leave the range cleaner than you found it. When you leave your targets on the back stops they eventually blow off and end up all over the range for someone else to pick up.
6. On this range we allow full automatic firing. Please be considerate of other shooters when firing these guns. They often expel empty brass a great distance.
7. Tracer and incendiary ammunition permitted unless posted due to dry conditions. Check at the gate sign in.
The practice range is for just about anything you want to shoot as long as you do it safely. If you want to sight in a varmint rifle, a 50 BMG, or shoot tin cans with your machine gun go for it and have fun. Just so it's legal and doesn't explode or start fires you can use it on the Practice Range. The Practice Range is almost always open for use. It is only closed during deer gun season and for a few special events.
We make every effort to put it in your news letter any time a range is closed.

3. Only one round is to be loaded at a time under normal circumstances.

100 YD. PRACTICE RANGE
1. Always shoot straight down range. Never cross fire. There are other ranges on both sides of you.
2. Do not put your targets on the main posts that support the back stops. When you shoot away the main supports it is much more difficult and expensive to repair them.
3. Use the target stands properly. When you use a target stand you must place your target so you are not constantly hitting the supports. If you are sighting in a new gun or just a bad shot please bring a box or something to put your target on so you don't destroy the clubs stands.
4. Range equipment. There are many things sitting around behind this range that are used at our many events like portable walls, tables, benches, wire reels, barricades, etc. Sometimes these things don't look like much but they are useful. Don't carry these things down range and put targets on them. If you are not sure what something is for just leave it alone, don't shoot it full of holes.
5. Please remove your targets and leave the range cleaner than you found it.
